The Center for Research in Railway Technologies (CITEF) was created in 1998 by Professor Carlos Vera, to meet a demand from the Spanish railway sector and develop knowledge and technological solutions within the Foundation for the Promotion of Industrial Innovation (F2I2).

Being a totally independent entity, CITEF cooperates under the client-partner model, with the main railway companies in Spain and internationally.

CITEF is a world leader in the development and application of advanced models and algorithms for the efficient reproduction by simulation of railway systems. These achievements apply to the entire life cycle: both design, optimization, validation and verification, as well as training, operation and maintenance, covering a wide range of needs in the railway sector.
